Where can I get the MuseumsCard?

The MuseumsCard is available at participating museums, at every Sparkasse in Schleswig-Holstein, libraries, some youth centers, and some tourist information offices. Larger orders for youth centers and school classes can be placed with the Landesjugendring.
You can also use the MuseumsCard digitally or download and print it out yourself.

How do I use the digital MuseumsCard?

Simply open www.meine-museumscard.de on your smartphone or tablet. A banner with your digital MuseumsCard will appear at the bottom of the screen, which you can set up directly in your browser. You can also scan the QR codes there. One person per smartphone or tablet can collect QR codes using the digital MuseumsCard.

Is the MuseumsCard really free for children and teens?

Yes, the MuseumsCard is free of charge. If you are under 18 years old or a youth leader with a Juleica, the MuseumsCard grants you free admission to participating museums. In some cases, this does not apply to guided tours or special exhibitions.

When does the MuseumsCard serve as a ticket?

Want to take the bus or train to the museum for free? Your MuseumsCard makes it possible. On two Thursdays during the fall break—October 15 and 22, 2026—the MuseumsCard serves as a ticket for second-class travel on all local buses and trains (RE, RB, NBE, AKN, erixx, neg, Arriva) in Schleswig-Holstein. Simply show your MuseumsCard or the open MuseumsCard app, and NAH.SH, the public transit system in Schleswig-Holstein, will take you to the museum of your choice for free! You can find the schedule at www.nah.sh. If you have any questions, the NAH.SH customer service team is here to help – call 0431-660 19 449 (Mon.–Sat. from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

By the way: Trips to Hamburg are also possible on both days, as local trains (RE, RB, NBE, AKN) can be used to Hamburg-Altona or Hamburg Central Station. However, other modes of transportation within the “Hamburg AB” fare zone of the Hamburg Transport Association (hvv) are not included. Click here for the fare regulations, in german: Tarifbestimmungen.

Can I use the MuseumsCard with my school class or youth group?

Of course! With the MuseumsCard, everyone under 18 and youth leaders with a Juleica card get free admission. This means that teachers and chaperones must pay admission if they do not have a Juleica.

We’re on vacation in Schleswig-Holstein. Does the card also apply to vacationers?

Absolutely! It doesn’t matter which city museum visitors are staying in. Anyone under 18 or with a Juleica can use the MuseumsCard at participating museums.

Who is behind the MuseumsCard?

The MuseumsCard is an initiative of Ministerium für Allgemeine und Berufliche Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur des Landes Schleswig-Holstein and Sparkassen- und Giroverbandes Schleswig-Holstein in cooperation with Landesjugendring Schleswig-Holstein and Museumsverband Schleswig-Holstein und Hamburg. Another cooperation partner is Nahverkehr Schleswig-Holstein.
